The Grey's Anatomy finale left us stranded at the prom! Which one will Meredith choose--Finn or McDreamy? Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) answers: My final moment-- where we all are in the lobby after the prom -- was filmed at 7am on a Sunday morning, Hour 21 of shooting. I couldn't even see straight, let alone decide!

When the chief of surgery interrogates Meredith about Denny Duquette, he says, I've known you since you were a child. I know your mother and father, and I know you couldn't do that. That gives her license to discuss her mother and him having an affair. That informs her opinion of Derek--that he's staying with Addison because he thinks it's the right thing to do, not because he's in love with her but because he has this idealistic vision of the man he wants to be. And the chief did the very same thing with Meredith's mother.

What Meredith really believes is that in trying to do the right thing, you're not really being the good guy at all, because ultimately you cause pain to everyone. It's really a terribly selfish thing. The right thing is not hurting people. And Derek and the chief have hurt their wives, and they have hurt Meredith and her mother. Neither one of these men seems to be happy. So how right are those choices? Finn is the real good guy. But Meredith's question is, "Do you go with the good guy just because he's good?" Where does that get her? There's something to be said for taking chances in life.

I don't think Meredith and McDreamy can have a romantic moment; it has to be an irrational coming-together because it's wrong. The intention was for Meredith to get away from his glare and get some perspective. And then there was the heat of the moment.

So Meredith is officially a hoochie now, because she slept with a married man. And I don't know what Derek is going to do. He was saying, "What does this mean?" I found that kind of weird, like, why was he saying that? He's the one who's going to have to choose whether or not to leave Addison.
I don't know what is going to happen. But I'm guessing somebody is going to come across Meredith's black panties.

Executive producer Betsy Beers says: I think I speak for many women when I say this looked like a darn fine better prom than the ones we all went to! So yes, we can leave them stranded at the prom. That's why we stranded them at the prom--so everyone has to wait through the summer to see who Meredith will choose.
